It all started in 2001, when Rob touched a pair of MKIIs for the first time and started collecting vinyl. Within months he developed the skills to rock parties and clubs in his area, shortly followed by bookings all over the German sector.
Constantly developing and building his styles and skills, Rob started getting more into scratching and turntablism to push his boundaries of ability. In 2003 he met the World champion DJs RAFIK and KID FRESH, who were literally his neighbors at that time. Sessioning and practicing with the turntablist World elite made him discover his possibilities as a DJ and set his standards higher and higher.
After 1 more year of excessive practice, blood, sweat and tears, Rob entered his first DJ battle, held by VESTAX in 2004. He won the contest, leaving 20 competitors from all over Germany behind him and even gained props from turntablist legend Q-bert who was one of the judges of the competition. Motivated by this success, Rob started to enter every DJ competition in Germany, including the major DJ battles DMC and ITF/IDA. After a few vice champion titles in ’05 and ‘06, Rob managed to win the crown of the national ITF/IDA Champion in 2007 + 2008 and went to compete in the World finals in Warsaw, where he won the WORLD TITLE. In the same year the DJ crew EXODUS was born, consisting of World champion DJs UNKUT and PRO-ZEIKO, AKD and Rob himself. They won the German DMC champion title and placed 2nd at the World finals in London, UK.
In 2008, Rob won the German DMC championships and competed against 35 other nations at the World final in London’s O2 Arena.
As a jet-setting club DJ and global player, Bankz is one of the very few who can combine serious turntablist skills with World class partyrocking, stunning crowds from Duesseldorf to Berlin, Amsterdam to Krakow and London to Shanghai.
